DAC Education was borne out of the suggestion of many who felt that the lead instructor, Dave, should put all his skills and knowledge built up over two decades of global expeditions to good use. After all, who better to teach first aid and navigation than someone who has experienced extreme conditions and dealt with a variety of emergency situations while surrounded by an array of weather, situation restrictions, in remote areas of the planet both hot and cold, high and low.
Unpleasant though it may be, the fact remains that accidents do happen. Experiencing an incident as a bystander, at work or with friends and family is not a pleasant scene, but having the confidence to know that you may be able to help is reassuring to yourself and those around you.
If an accident happens in the workplace, it is comforting for your colleagues to know that there is someone in the office who is able to help. This is why we think it is important to have at least a basic knowledge of first aid.
At its most basic, first aid is the initial assistance given to a victim of injury or illness. Comprised of relatively simple techniques that can be performed with rudimentary equipment, first aid is usually carried out by a layperson until professional medical assistance arrives.
Every employer is required to have adequate first aid provision to handle everything from small incidents to emergencies, and to look after their employees at work. Depending on your business type and risk assessments will determine your first aid needs.
In the current age you never know when a little bit of knowledge could be very useful and save a life.
DAC Education delivers First Aid training courses to all industries and to the public. Based in Ipswich but our instructors are willing to travel far and wide.
